Workshop on Performance Based Navigation (PBN)
A one day PBN Workshop is organised by SDM to inform implementing stakeholders about PBN and promote implementation.
Introduction to PBN
Performance Based Navigation (PBN) is replacing traditional navigation methods in aviation, in accordance with global agreements in ICAO. The PBN IR is in the process of being issued by the EC supporting the PCP IR. Gaining full and timely benefit from PBN/RNP, requires synchronised implementation of airborne capabilities and adaption of airspace design and operational procedures. The PCP Sub ATM Functionality 1.2 – “PBN in High Density TMAs” requires implementation of RNP APCH and PBN/RNP1 at the busiest airports in Europe.
Objective
Increase awareness of PBN/RNP amongst implementing stakeholders and promote implementation of PBN/RNP required by PCP IR as defined in the Deployment Programme edition 2017, AF1.2.
Audience
Implementing stakeholders identified in PCP IR (ANSPs and airports including airspace designers and AIS units) and airspace users that need to be capable to operate PBN/RNP procedures.
