Foreword

Welcome to the 6th edition of our newsletter in 2021.

The call for the next SESAR Deployment Manager and Framework Partnership Agreement Coordinator was published on 29th of October 2021. This great news for all aviation stakeholders involved in SESAR deployment ensures the smooth continuation of Air Traffic Management modernisation together, under the coordination of a new SESAR deployment mandate holder at the end of our current mandate by the end of May 2022. More information on this milestone reached by building on the achievements realised in the past 7 years together further down in this newsletter.

Moreover, SESAR Deployment Manager organised three online events in November, which provided stakeholders with key insights and guidance on SESAR deployment in Europe. Our SESAR Deployment Manager Annual Meeting for Implementing Partners was one of these events and was once again organised online due to existing sanitary context, featuring keynote speeches from the European Commission (DG MOVE) and CINEA.

There is no doubt that SESAR Deployment Manager is hard at work with all involved stakeholders and partners to ensure that Air Traffic Management modernisation and digitalisation continue in a good pace, despite the difficulties faced by all ATM actors. This great cooperation is proven by the recent accomplishment of 200 completed projects, with now 141 ongoing SESAR deployment projects.

In the same vein, we organised a webinar on the Monitoring View 2021, with a particular focus on the SDM Monitoring Exercise that was recently launched and presenting the joint SDM and EUROCONTROL efforts in streamlining the reporting processes that lead to the adaptation of the EUROCONTROL “LSSIP” reporting tool to also comprise the reporting for the CP1/SDP monitoring, hence now called the “LSSIP+” tool.

We were also delighted to see many of you at the second edition of our SWIM webinar series, which was this time focused on providing more insights on the Met SWIM service implementation and the availability of new Met products in support of ATM. Check out our SDM website and socials for all the details.

Speaking of which, did you know that we maintain a timeline of key milestones, events and news on the SESAR Deployment Manager website? Key figures, completed projects, important events: you can see the ongoing efforts for the modernisation and digitalisation of Europe’s Air Traffic Management at a glance on our Ongoing Journey page.

Without further ado, you can read the new developments in SESAR deployment on this newsletter.
