Dear reader,

Welcome to the last Newsletter under the mandate of the SESAR Deployment Alliance (SDA) as SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM).

Following the publication of the Call for the next SESAR Deployment Manager and Framework Partnership Agreement Coordinator, the SESAR Deployment and Infrastructure Partnership (SDIP), a dedicated consortium established by major European airspace users, airport operators, air navigation service providers and EUROCONTROL as the Network Manager , submitted its application to the European Commission on the 31st of January to fulfil the role of SESAR Deployment Manager for the period covering 1/06/2022 – 31/12/2027, aiming to smoothly continue the ATM modernisation journey through SESAR deployment.

Therefore, we are now finalising the official transition phase, providing all the necessary information to the new consortium applying for the selection as new SESAR Deployment Manager. As SDA, we have ensured that the SESAR deployment momentum will continue and that all involved operational stakeholders in Europe are ready to effectively continue SESAR deployment in a synchronised and timely manner as from the 1st of June 2022.

This will be the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for SESAR deployment and the fruit of many years of efforts and ambitions coordinated under the Management Team of the current SDM mandate holder. Our updated SESAR Deployment Fact Sheet, which you can find out more about in this newsletter, is the proof of our strong legacy and the ongoing commitment of all stakeholders in modernising and digitalising the European sky.

Moreover, these concrete results under the current SDM mandate holder will receive their due attention during the upcoming World ATM Congress, which will take place from the 21st to the 23rd of June in Madrid, and where the new SESAR Deployment Manager will not only showcase these achievements but also build on the solid basis set in the past 7 years.

As always, the team behind SDM remains highly motivated to provide the support needed to guarantee a smooth transition for the nearly 100 implementing partners currently involved in SESAR deployment, ensuring that the achievements and lessons learnt in the past 7 years of SESAR deployment are a solid basis to continue ATM modernisation in Europe.

The next edition of SESAR Deployment Managers’ newsletter will arrive in June and will provide you more details by the new mandate holder.

Finally, on behalf of the entire SDA team, we want to thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in delivering ATM modernisation together since 2014. It is thanks to your commitment that we have today 230 projects delivered and another 111 ongoing, all delivering benefits to the European economy, passengers, citizens and environment.
