Since 2017, 35 stakeholders have been involved in Data Link Services (DLS) through 10 implementation projects, supported by 29 million euro public EU money.

The results so far confirm SESAR Deployment Manager’s added value through defragmented and well synchronised approach against years of fragmentation and diversity of baseline local scenarios: substantial increases of DLS performances, through an effective Multi Frequency upgrade, are reported by the Network Manager. However, this is a temporary relief as the new data capacity made available has started to be heavily used by growing traffic more demanding new generation aircraft. That’s why it is so important to keep moving all together defining and implementing the target architecture and combination of technological enablers required to reach the DLS performance level needed to enable 4D trajectory and further ATM digitalisation.
