Trajectory-based operations (TBO) is a cornerstone of the future European ATM system, enabling aircraft trajectories to be shared, updated and managed collaboratively across the network. This walking tour explores how SESAR research, demonstrations and early deployment initiatives are supporting the planning and implementation of TBO capabilities across Europe.
Participants will discover solutions enabling trajectory data sharing through ADS-C, FF-ICE flight information exchange and network-level trajectory synchronisation. Through demonstrations from airlines, ANSPs and the Network Manager, the tour highlights how improved trajectory information, advanced analytics and collaborative decision-making are supporting the transition towards more predictable, efficient and environmentally sustainable flight operations.

SESAR Walking Tour 10: Building the digital ATM ecosystem: virtual centres, SWIM and smarter airspace

How do we move from today’s ATM infrastructure to a fully digital, service-oriented ecosystem? This tour explores key SESAR research and deployment activities enabling the transition, which are also laying the groundwork for the future implementation of Common Project 2 (CP2).
Participants will see how virtualisation technologies, SWIM services and advanced airspace management tools are supporting more dynamic sectorisation, improved data exchange and greater operational flexibility across Europe’s ATM network.
