SESAR Deployment Manager and European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Today, the SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) and the European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
The MoC provides the principles and sets a framework for efficient cooperation and communication between the SDM and EUROCAE with regard to SESAR deployment, in light of Regulation 409/2013.
It is essential that EUROCAE and the SDM are closely coordinating and exchanging information on the standards development process and progress of relevant activities within EUROCAE on the one hand, but also for the SDM to provide information to EUROCAE on relevant developments regarding the deployment programme that could impact the standardisation activities. The MoC coordination is complementary to the coordination that will also take place in the European ATM Standardisation Coordination Group (EASCG) and the results will be reflected in the EASCG Rolling Plan.
Standards development and EUROCAE activities are specifically recognised in this Regulation as an essential element in support of SESAR deployment.
EUROCAE plays a key role on the European scene for the development of standards for Aviation, including Air Traffic Management. Through this cooperation, the SDM and EUROCAE will contribute to the provision of the required standards for a successful deployment of SESAR.

About SESAR Deployment Manager:
The SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) is the industrial partnership that synchronises and coordinates the modernisation of Europe’s air traffic management system under the political oversight of the European Commission.
The main task of the SESAR Deployment Manager is to develop, submit to the European Commission for its approval and execute the Deployment Programme, a project view strictly drawn from the Pilot Common Project (PCP) set by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 716/2014, as well as any subsequent Common Projects in future regulations.
Through the Deployment Programme, the SESAR Deployment Manager will ensure efficient synchronization and coordination of implementation projects required to implement the PCP, as well as the related investments.
The tasks of the Deployment Manager are described in Article 9 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 409/2013.
EUROCAE currently has around 190 members, including industry, service providers, regulators, research institutes and international organisations. EUROCAE membership is open to organisations and industries worldwide. EUROCAE in the interest of its stakeholders, develops technical specifications for the industry and in support of regulations, aiming to increase safety, market potential, facilitate interoperability and encourage technological development. The development of EUROCAE documents is governed by a well-proven core process promoting team work, excellence, industry buy-in and consensus while ensuring safety.
