Last week we visited LFV and Swedavia AB and had some fruitful exchanges on the progress of ATM modernization in Europe’s largest Nordic country Sweden.

🤝 Representatives from LFV, the Swedish Air Navigation Service Provider, Swedavia, the owner and operator of ten of Sweden's busiest airports, the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority and Swedish Met Office SMHI exchanged the current implementation status of the of Common Project 1 (CP1) deployment projects with our Executive Director Mariagrazia La Piscopia and her team.

👏 “A big thank you to LFV and Swedavia for kindly hosting us during these two days and for providing valuable insights into the progress of CP1 deployment projects in Sweden. Great to be assured of your commitment and continuous effort to implement a more efficient and connected Air Traffic Management #AsOne,” stated Mariagrazia.

Airport-related deployment projects refer to Sweden’s largest airport Arlanda in Stockholm, for example extended Airport Operations Plan or Airport Safety Nets. ATC projects at LFV focus on the approach followed to accelerate a harmonized implementation of System Wide Information Management (SWIM).

📈 The implementation of CP1 modernisation is constantly progressing across Europe. CP1 delivered € 4.6 bn of cumulative benefits by the end of 2023 vs. a do-nothing scenario. This value will reach € 19.4 bn by 2030, assuming full deployment of CP1, a value set to further increase in the following decade (considering the full impact of AF5 and AF6).
